The accelerometer on the watch cannot detect an accurate step count as your arm is not swinging in a natural walking motion while you are holding on to the lawnmower handle. Personally, I place my watch in my pants pocket to get a more accurate step count in this situation.

Ah, similar to grocery shopping with our hands on the cart!  Maybe I can wear my watch around my ankle next time.  I hope there's a way to manually log it so I can at least get credit.  It was a WORKOUT!    Funny that the inferior Fitbit worked well with this.  Surprised by Garmin but I love everything else.
