Can someone please explain how I can control which map is shown by default in GC Explore. I live in Denmark and the current default map shows Calgary!

All advice appreciated, thanks.

Each week Explore's default location is changed based on city ranking of visits to Garmin Connect. This week's location is Calgary.

How do *you* set the default garmin connect map view

Yes...but how do you change this default behaviour?

It's really stupid for the map to constantly be changing. I want to set the starting map point to my own location and for it to remember this...I'm logged in so it should be possible.

Also it's very frustrating to do a search and be taken to the US place of that name by default. THERE ARE OTHER COUNTRIES AS WELL AS NORTH AMERICA!
  • There is no way to change the default behavior now, but this has been requested many times, and for a long time now.

However, given the changes in the GC team, I wouldn't expect any progress on this anytime soon.

    Yes.

This is ridiculous. I want to be able to search my own city by default too.

Also, how about some support for Linux, It would work in WINE except for the stupid USB drivers. Its like its made to NOT work. After I upload my data I go back to Linux so I don't have to deal with Windows and it stupid drivers.

Any possibility to get this pushed trough faster by us?

Hi Kinesin, I tried it out and it works good, but I noticed it STILL defaults to the Garmin Default location, just for a few seconds (and still northern Taiwan..?!), before my re-direct URL kicks in..can't have everything right? :D

Having used connect for all of 15 minutes this feature is so annoying that I doubt I'll bother using connect again. Back to proper social networks for track sharing. Big disappointment Garmin with such a stupid feature...

OK - got Redirect to work to overcome this annoying feature - great App. Now it seems that Explore doesn't recognise (english, or) I do mountain biking and don't want every other activity result for my area... this site is waste of time!

Such a good concept has been lost in poor programing and/or a lack of appreciate of end users by those instructing the programmers...

I don`t believe this is the case. Take a look at this link: https://forums.garmin.com/showgroups.php
and tell me how may moderators you count from Arizona which is where it seems to default for me most of the time.
    Coincidence? Noooo..... don`t think so!

Actually it is coincidence. I've been using Garmin Connect for almost three years, and this is the first time I remember the default location being Arizona.

As I and others have posted in reply to you, GC does rotate the default location. I've seen it in quite a few places around the world. Stick around and in a week or two you'll see a different location.
