Garmin Nuvi 1340t powered off

HI all. I have a new garmin nuvi 1340t and about 1.5 hours into a journey it suddenly powered off, even though it was plugged in to the 12v socket and the battery was full. I did a soft reset and it picked up from where it powered off, a bit later it then froze completely causing me to miss an exit on a motorway. When I got home I checked on the garmin site FAQ's and accordingly checked the software version,,,,,it says I have the latest version which is v3.40....any ideas on a fix for this.

    Nuvi 1350

I am having the exact same problem with my Nuvi 1350. It shuts down about 1.5 hours into a trip. It acts like its a screen saver because it won't power back up until I press the power three or four times. There is nothing in the manual about a screensaver or a power saver. If I don't find a fix for this soon, I will have to return it as a faulty unit. I have seen absolutely nothing in the forum about this until your post. Mine's not a 1340, but it is close enough to be caused by the same flaw in manufacture.
