Social Sharing

How come Garmin Connect does not allow you to automatically publish to facebook or twitter? That seems to be a common feature on other online sports sites.

It would also be great if Garmin Connect became more of a community like Daily Mile where people can comment on other people's workouts, support each other, and motivate!

I can not get it to work either. Maybe this might be the catch. Under privacy settings it states "allow sharing of my"New" activity uploads."
Maybe old activities can not be shared. Sounds like a glitch that needs to be attended too.

The Privacy Setting on the "settings" screen controls the default which is applied when an activity is uploaded.

The privacy setting of an individual activity is indicated by a padlock icon following the activities title on the activity display screen. You can click on the padlock icon to toggle it between locked and unlocked (or private and public).

I did exactly this. Clicked to unlock the padlock. But unfortunately the activities that were done b4 this change in setting could not be shared -- the share icon remains greyed out. Have yet to test out if it is workable on new activities.

Ok finally got it. On each of the previous activities, there's a lock icon next to the edit details icon. You have to unlock this one (if it is in the lock mode) to enable the Share icon to be active.

    Automatically post to Twitter

    Hi,

If you want to automatically publish your Garmin Connect activities to Twitter, check out http://garminsocial.com

It monitors the activities you uploaded and publishes a tweet to your Twitter stream once a new activities is added. You can customize the format of the tweets.

    Regards,

Garmin Social now support both Facebook and Twitter

    Hi,

The Garmin Social Service now support automatic posting of new Garmin Connect activities to both Facebook and Twitter. You specify the format of your message once (including details you want to include) and Garmin Social will publish all activities uploaded to Garmin Connect automatically.

    Check it out at http://garminsocial.com

did you get a fix for your Facebook sharing problem, I am having same problem and cannot resolve it. I use Firefox as my web browser. Any advice appreciated Thanks

I sent a lot of time searching the way to share GC on FC, but this was the best solution of all.
Brilliant! That's it! Thank you GERRYCAN!
The only remaining problem is that a map of my route does not appear on the Facebook timeline in order to be more nice and complete and my friends can see it. Now they can only see the blue triangle and the link of my route in garmin-connect.com.

I know there is Mymotion and Endomondo but is it true that they can track you anywhere you are? I cannot accept that some people may be able to know exactly where I am anytime they want. Why does not Garmin do something for its customers/fans?
I would like your opinions on this.
