Hello, I am not sure where to post as I could not see anything product and vehicle use specific. I apologize if this is the wrong place. I am presently looking at the Garmin 265 WT for use with my car for directions etc. and which I understand to be a Blue tooth device which is a nice feature as we are now required to use blue tooth here in my province when we are on a cell phone.
I understand that this model is blue tooth but I also have other queries about what the volume and voice are like on this unit when in traffic. I have read reviews and can't get a lot of specific information. Does a user give the address of their current location and that of the destination and the unit searches its data base for instructions and audibly gives them out at a reasonable hearing level?
The other units that are available here are the 255 gps and another 255 model which is cheaper.
This 265 WT is $169.99 cdn, which I believe to be a very reasonable price for Canada.
I would appreciate any comments from knowledgeable members as I don't know if I should purchase this one now, or wait as I see that there are higher end products which appear more sophisticated, however my main concerns are whether this unit receives voice commands and whether the audibility and quality of responses are decent when driving with traffic and engine noise.
Any other comments would be appreciated as I am new to GPS.
Thank you for your time....and if this is in the wrong forum, I apologize and would appreciate a redirection.
Happy 2010!

I got the 265WT as a gift for Christmas. I have used the bluetooth to make cell phone calls while I'm driving and find it is easy to use voice activated dialing and to carry on a conversation.

As for directions - the unit knows where you are and you tell it where you want to go and it gives directions verbally and on the screen.

I've signed on to the forum to try and find out why while trying to get my free map update has crashed my computer - and find advice on restoring my system. I did successfully do the update on a second computer after many hours of struggle and a long time holding to get to the Garmin help desk. Beware!
