Linux/Cross Platform support

Garmin,

Please develop your tools so they are operating system agnostic. A browser plugin should not care what OS is behind it. The only thing keeping me from loving my garmin nuvi 755 is that I can't register it because the software requires windows or mac.

PLEASE find a way to support the linux community. Even if its making the code and info available to us to build our own tools.
  • I use this http://www.andreas-diesner.de/garminplugin/doku.php with my FR305 and Edge705. It works just like the original with GC and other 3rd party websites. I found a bug once and the author solved in less then 24h.
    .
    .
There is packages for Ubuntu and Fedora but you can build it from the source for your linux distribution.
    Good luck

Unfortunately still doesn't support the 310xt.

I tried this yesterday with an FR305 on a Dell inspiron laptop running Ubuntu (Lucid Lynx). It worked very well.

    Thanks :)

Well I'd suggest dropping a note to Andreas and check directly with him if he has plans to add support for your device any time soon. I'm not sure on what device he is working on right now.

    Hello,

Does anyone know if Garmin BaseCamp software will work in a WindowsXP VirtualBox (guest) on a Ubuntu 10.10 (host)?

    Thanks,
