Calories Calculation Edge

I have a Fenix 7x pro, but for cycling I use an Edge 1040. My problem is that cycling is not counted in the daily calories. Is there any solution?

In conversation with Garmin Support I was told that it is working as planned. You can see Activity Calories in Connect, separate from Active Calories.

Go figure ..

In that case, unfortunately, the Calories from the watch override the Calories from Edge. And since the watch most likely was not recording any activity, and did not use the HRM strap, the value may differ greatly.

If I don't wear the watch during the ride, and I sync the 1040 with the GC after the ride (before sync the watch), it seems good.
