Size of "current Map View" search area. Default map view.

Hi

The size of the "current map view" search area seems to have been restricted and if it is zoomed out too far then doing a "search current map view" results in a message "search area too broad - please zoom in". When you do zoom in far enough to prevent the above message you will often get no results as the search area is too small. It would be better to have a message like "too many results found - please zoom in" if the search area is too large and produces too many results.

Also is it possible to set the default map view on login? I am in South Africa and need to pan halfway around the world to get to the area of interest for me.

While there are
  • Agreed. The search 'current map view' needs some work.

1/ Default view should be something related to "me", such as my location based on my preferences, or my last search, or last activity or even my IP address. But NOT some random activities in a random city.

2/ The size of the search are should not be restricted to a few square km's. The current restriction is making this unusable, and is frustrating when searching large areas such as national parks where you have no idea where to begin the search.

3/ The search should show tracks that cross the search area, not just the start point, especially when the search area is so small.
