menu disappears

Hello,

I use Safari on MacOs. Since a couple of days the main menu on the left in connect disappears, even when I click the menu open button

I can open it, but when I chose an option the menu collapse again, it used to stay open. Also, since the same time the Lactate Threshold screen shows only the current data. The graph on 4w and 12w are blank.

  • workaround with extension:

    download extension Tampermonkey

enable Developer mode (slider in the top right corner in extensions page)

Create javascript with the content of this file:

    https://axi.at/wp-content/uploads/js/axi.garmin.js

Sorry it's not allowed to add javascript directly.

    Enable this js for garminConnect.

This script checks every two seconds if body has a specific class. If class exists, remove it.
If you select a menu item the menu disappears but will show immediately. You can adjust the interval (2000 milliseconds) on your needs.

If you need any help, feel free to contact me Slight smile

Testet with chrome and opera gx on windows 10

  • Same problem here ... Mac Book Pro with current OS and Safari.  Started a few weeks ago and is a PIA.

  • even with this is a good hack but I wouldn't call this "problem solved" and green marked as solution, it's a workaround until Garmin can fix this issue as it doesn't solve the root cause (Garmin's change on the menue toogle button behaviour on Apr.28)

I clicked the "Suggest as Answer" checkbox on my comment so it would stand out and be easier for people to find, not because it's literally a solution that perfectly resolves the problem. I'm pretty sure that's the purpose of the checkbox. I am 100% aware that it's just a hack/workaround and I think everyone who reads the comment should also understand that. I literally said it was a workaround in the comment itself.

Just because something is marked as an "answer" in the forums doesn't mean that the root cause on Garmin's end has been fixed. Clearly if the root cause was fixed, then further posts in this thread would be unnecessary.

I don't work for garmin and I don't have the power to fix anything of theirs or to make them fix anything.

idk, maybe I should just delete my comment? axi771's workaround has better browser support anyway.

tbh no good deed goes unpunished, and that applies 10000-fold on the internet. probably better to say nothing and save the effort instead of trying to help and getting criticized for it.

but just for you I unchecked the "suggest as answer" checkbox

  • sorry, didn't know you marked it as solution. No offense and thank you for your help to work around this.

My comment was more towards Garmin as they screwed this thing up and then rely on guys like us to work around issues they created in the first place as I though someone from the Garmin moderation team marked this as solution...

please keep your comment alive as it helps us and others...

  • oic sorry for massively overreacting haha. yeah I share your frustration with Garmin on this and many other things but tbh it's nothing new from them

  • Connect Web does not work, reports here of the same issue for the last 3 weeks!

Not good enough Garmin, fix it already!!!

  • Connect Web does not work

It would be good if you could describe in detail what is not working for you. I can't see any problems.

  • The slide out menu on the left side of the window does not work.

There is another post about it from 21 days ago with the same problem and multiple responses, with screenshots, titled "menu disappears".

  • It would be good if you could describe in detail what is not working for you.

I'm gonna go ahead and guess OP means this:

    https://forums.garmin.com/apps-software/mobile-apps-web/f/garmin-connect-web/410185/menu-disappears

I bet you could've guessed that too, if you were willing to engage in good faith.

    I can't see any problems.

Be that as it may, I don't really understand this seemingly standard response whenever anyone reports a software/hardware product issue online. (Not just in this community.)

The fact that one person doesn't see a problem doesn't mean that the problem doesn't exist for others. Quite often (not necessarily in this case), the person who responds "I don't see the problem" made zero effort to understand what the OP was talking about or reproduce it on their end.

Imagine how annoying it would be if a bunch of people responded to this post with "I can't see any problems":

    https://forums.garmin.com/apps-software/mobile-apps-web/f/connect-iq-store-ios/408542/v2-35---settings-button-grayed-out-garmin-undo-this-asap

Ofc that's different bc that's an issue that's important to you.
