Nuvi 265WT Traffic Receiver Requires Update?

Good morning all,

I recently purchased a Nuvi 265WT due mostly to the traffic receiver feature and the fact that I was about to head to a very congested area for business.

Before I left home, I installed and ran the Webupdater and it installed what I thought were the latest updates.

I got on a plane and landed in Washington DC. Upon plugging the nuvi into the power core/traffic receiver, the screen said TRAFFIC RECEIVER SOFTWARE UPDATE REQUIRED. Of course, the traffic feature didn't work.

I again ran Webupdater, and it tells me I have the latest software. The traffic receiver still doesn't work. What is the deal? How do I get the traffic receiver to work? I'm quite frustrated over this as I'd expected the traffic receiver to work out of the box, and especially expected it to work after I ran webupdater twice.

Any help would be appreciated!

It is now working

Hey all,

For some reason that I don't know, the traffic receiver started working today. It actually worked very well and we could have used it to route around some traffic delays...

Also having problems with traffic on 265WT

How did you get it working? I tried to from the car and it said I need to go online to www.garmin.com/fmtraffic to obtain a subscription code. It gave me a unit ID to enter. But where? The only thing I can find online are subscriptions I have to purchase. I have wasted most of the evening trying to get this figured out and the help area and FAQs are not helping. did you figure out how to download free traffic??? iv been trying all morning and i still cant figure out where to enter the unit id #.
plz help!!

my unit is doing the same thing. Sometimes it says traffic software update required, and traffic function does not work. other times it works fine. Its random. My unit is uptodate using webupdater.

Any help?

All in the same boat I guess

Yeah I had the same problem then I reset the unit and reinstalled everything I thought I fixed it but now I get that same message and when I go to the settings where the traffic subscriptions are I press the icon and get "Please connect traffic receiver to the nuvi" which doesn't make sense because it it clearly not running on battery and the icon is only there when the receiver is plugged in....:mad:

Not exactly obvious that this a sports forum

https://forums.garmin.com/index.php shows "Garmin Connect" and then this (Troubleshooting) forum is listed as a sub-forum. It's only when you get here that you see "Into Sports" if you happen to look up at the chain of sub-forums.

Why, then, isn't there a forum for automotive GPSes?

Nuvi 265WT Traffic Receiver Requires Update?

My Traffic Receiver has been working sporadically as of late, and recently I received a message on my GPS advising that "Traffic Receiver Software Update Required". I logged into my Garmin account and did not note anything related to updating the Traffic Receiver software, however; on the 'MyDashboard' tab I did note that there was a Software Update available so I updated my device - hopefully this will resolve the issue.
