I purchased a boat this summer that has a Garmin 498 and last week the screen started flashing like there was a wire loosed inside the casing. Sometimes its so bad, I can't read the screen. I wanted to pop it open and take a look, but it appears to be epoxied to center console. Any suggestions?
Can't say I suggest opening the case. Doing so could cause the unit to no longer be waterproof, even if you are able to correct the issue. The best thing to try is a voltage check to make sure that the unit is getting a steady power supply.
