Nuvi 1490T shutdown on 8 copies

I have just returned my 8th copy of a Garmin Nuvi 1490T. Is there a known issue with these? I ask as I have bought all these from 2 different costco's. All have had the same issue, turn off and on repeatedly. Even after the firmware and software updates. I see the solution is to send the unit in for repair with an RMA. That is laughable, buying a product, then having to send it in for repair almost immediately. Is this affecting a certain serial number batch? If so, what serial numbers are not affected, that way I can go to Costco and buy one that I know works. Wonder if that is why they are selling them for $349.....

    Well today I went into Costco and they have the 1490T for $249, so I bought two of them. I will see if these two have the same problems.

    Well the 9th one I bought crapped out. This is with all the software and firmware updates. #10 is running 3.0 software version, and I am going to try this without any of the updates....keep you posted.

    garmin nuvi 1490t troubleshooting

    Just bought my first 1490 from Costco and now a week later it crapped out. I am taking it back to Costco tonight :mad:

    Same Shutdown Issue

    I have had the same shut down isues on two units purchased at Costco. I think it is related to having the bluetooth enabled with my Blackberry 8310. When I disabled bluetooth and removed the device the issue no longer occurs. I now have enabled my wife's LG phone, but have not used the unit since to verify.

    Well #10 took a dump as well. Did not think about the bluetooth possibly causing an issue, I will have to check that. That feature though, being the primary reason I bought this unit. I have escalated this issue to Garmin, and was involved in heavy dialog for about four days, then it stopped, when I said I wanted to send the unit in for them to look at........
  • No luck with Bluetooth

    Well I disabled Bluetooth on the 1490T and turned the phone off, alas no luck, still keeps shutting down. Garmin must realize that this is a serious issue??

    uh oh! Mine is 5 months old and I cannot get it to boot up. Now I am wondering if I made a costly mistake in buying it.

    Gamin on and off problem

    Bought mine at Costco during Black Friday also. Use it about a dozen times maybe. Now unuseable, switch on and off by itself, totally useless.
    Very disappointed with Garmin. I don't think I have the receipt anymore but I'll try to exchange it at Costco.

    I'm seeing the same issues on a three week old unit I got from Costco for $350 USD.
