Import TCX files for future workout plan - just paces, dates, distances (no course)

Hello all,

I want to import a training plan that I made as a TCX file so that I can have my workouts all planned in my GC app. I can't find a place to bulk import these & it seems like some others have had a similar goal over time with no luck / response on here. 

Notes:

1. I don't have courses assigned to them (don't have specific locations in mind, was hoping they would work like the daily recommended workouts

2. I've attached the file - Chat GPT developed for a 4hr marathon in many months with a few ultras along the way. I don't know how well the TCX is formatted, I figure I'll get to that issue when I can find a way to import it LOL 

3. I have a forerunner 265S, doubt that matters as this seems like a GC issue

Is the current solution to get these into .fit format and drop them directly onto my watch? 

I will not be developing them individually, I'd rather just run the workouts based off memory than do all that.

This would be an awesome feature as I love the Garmin Coach concept but can't stand that the workouts change day by day based on recovery.

  • The TCX file format is not used for workouts or for training plans. Garmin uses the FIT file format for that. If you send the workout to your watch, you can download it from there, over the USB cable. Workouts are in the folders //GARMIN/Workouts and //GARMIN/Workouts/Scheduled

    I mean...that's pretty much the whole point of Garmin Coach: adaptive workouts that change from day-to-day.

    Garmin still has non-adaptive "self-guided" plans:

    - Log into the the Connect website

    - Select Training And Planning > Garmin Coach (or use this link https://connect.garmin.com/modern/training-plan)

    - Select Browse All Plans

    - Scroll to the self-guided plans section

    - Select a plan based on:

    -- race distance (e.g. 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon)

    -- skill level / experience (beginner, intermediate, advanced)

    -- whether or not you want heart-rate based training targets

    You won't be able to customize your plan, but it won't change day-by-day either.

    The closest thing I can find is this github project which allows you import a fully customized training plan that you've defined in a CSV file:
