menu disappears

Hello,

I use Safari on MacOs. Since a couple of days the main menu on the left in connect disappears, even when I click the menu open button

I can open it, but when I chose an option the menu collapse again, it used to stay open. Also, since the same time the Lactate Threshold screen shows only the current data. The graph on 4w and 12w are blank.

  • I look at my activities on Strava more than Garmin Connect, so it may have been a week or two since I looked at an activity on Garmin Connect.  When I look today, the web site is all messed up, the formatting is messed up, things are overlaying each other, the left-side menu options are missing labels.  I think there's been a change in Garmin Connect web site.  I see it says somewhere on the Home page, "Welcome to the new Home Page" or something like that.  Well, it doesn't work for me.  I'm on Firefox, a pretty up-to-date version, version 115.20.0esr(64-bit) on Windows 7,  the Firefox was updated to that like a month back.  I will try updating to latest Firefox, but I'll be surprised if it fixes it.  Yes, I also have Chrome and Brave browsers, or Edge for that matter though I never use that.  I can try the website on those, maybe it works there, but still, why doesn't it work on Firefox when it has always previously worked on Firefox?  UPDATE: Works in Firefox and Brave on Windows 10, so I guess you can ignore my report/feedback.

  • What's more, I don't even know how to provide feedback except for this forum.

  • More info:  Where didn't work was FireFox or Brave on Windows 7 computer.  It did work on slightly older version of Firefox (137.0.2(64-bit)) and up-to-date Brave on Windows 10 computer.  So the underlying Windows version makes a difference.  Didn't expect that.  Anyways, that's on me, for running old Windows 7, so I guess you can ignore this feedback.  Still, would be nice if still worked there, it did up until recently.

  • when I chose an option the menu collapse again

Other operating systems and browsers have the same sidebar quirk. Possibly related to this issue that was resolved a month ago - Menu options missing left side of home page on Connect website

Contact Garmin Support directly to report the issue.

  • I reported the issue. The solutions in "Menu options missing..." doesn't seem to work.

  • left side of screen all black & cant access activities

  • Joined to main thread on this topic.

  • and I thought it's only me, I have same issue that the toogle switch don't longer work as before and stick to the last used setting (as for years before) and maintain the open or close status, nowadays it automatically collapses the menue and render the "toogle switch button" bascially useless as the menue also open the you hoiver over it so the button is in the current castrated functionality bascially useless

    mainly irritating for three reasons:

    1. makes unessary visual noise on the screen as it moves something on the left side out of your  eye focus area and force you to pay attention on the moving part of the screen instead of the part you are actually want to focus on -> bad UI design and a big NO NO for ergonomic reason-> never distract the user eye focus with non sensual screen movement patterns
    2. if you open a menue item on the left and the menue then automaticlaly closes, the postion of the sub-menue icon changes and not respecting the undelying/open menue position, e.g. if I have 'performance stat open move to the right the menue automatically collpases and then I hover over the gear icon the menue automaticlaly opens now again but voila my mouse pointer is now nopt on the gear icon but on the race precitor sub menue that was open before... simpel furstrating

I guess even the hardest Garmin fanboys here realize how tiem cosnimunga dn un ergomical such menue behaviour is

    3. the Garmin menue items are not all all intuive nor self explanatory so I found I uses now more time as before to find a dedicated menue item and bascially are forced to hover over all of them to let the written text appear, time wasted in forcingt the user to do unlogical steps to justy read the meunue items text

my biggest quesiton to the Garmin UI designer: did you do ever do any A/B testing for such major change in visual UI guidance? Or you just change stuff and hope nobody will notice a\nd hope nobody calls you our for your screw ups?

  • Have the same problem. Menu drop bar panel in the left side is black and I cannot activate it. The worst is that I need to load the track for my Garmin for tomorrow ride and I cannot do it by menu. How can I load track without Garmin Connect menu?
