Changed step goal but the streak is lost

I changed my step goal (to a lower number) but lost my streak although I reached the goal for more than 300 days. Shouldn't it be calculated according to number of days the goal is met?

Why does the streak counts from day 1 todayd. The streak is reach 300 days back.

Yes, it does, but not retrospectively. If you change your goal today, it won't change the goal you had previously. It only counts from today onwards. As a workaround, you can change the system time on your computer to the concerned day, edit the goal in GC Web, and then set the system date back to auto.
