My Garmin Forerunner 205 is a little less than 2 years old. Yesterday after charging all night on the docking station, it froze up and wouldn't respond to multiple soft and hard resets. It occasionally did start up, but in a very strange screen with about 15 small lines of text about "software version" and "time since last reset" and "drift" and "temperature" and "XO" etc.
I realized that it worked while on the charger (connected via USB to computer), but once I move it from the charger it immediately powers off. When I put it back on the charger, the computer detects it but the unit remains turned off, and the "battery charging complete" message floats across the screen.
Then when I pressed the mode button, it went to a "beep test" with information about frequency. Pressing "mode" again sent it to a gray screen with a large "X" through it, and "mode" once more sent it to a screen saver type screen with moving rectangles.
I downloaded the WebUpdater and installed two fixes, but nothing significant has changed. The unit works while on the charger (I was even able to retrieve run data and send a .crs course to the device with the Training Center program), but as soon as I take it off the charger it powers down and will not turn on again.
Help! I need this for a race this week!
Thanks in advance
Amy
