Garmin Connect Web Not Syncing Activities Properly from Forerunner 255

Hi everyone,

I've been using a Garmin Forerunner 255 for a few months now, and it's been working great overall. However, over the past week, I've noticed that some of my activities aren’t showing up properly on Garmin Connect Web—even though they appear fine on the watch and in the mobile app.

Specifically, runs that are synced via Bluetooth to the Garmin Connect mobile app show up there with full details (pace, heart rate, route, etc.), but when I check Garmin Connect on the web, a few of them are missing entirely or only show partial data (like time and distance but no map or heart rate). I’ve tried logging out and clearing my browser cache, but the issue persists across browsers and devices.

I also tried a manual sync from the app and even reconnected my watch to my Garmin account, but no luck. Is this a known sync bug between the mobile app and the web version, or is there something wrong with the activity file itself? Is there a way to force re-upload of an activity file or re-sync from the mobile app to Garmin Connect Web?

Any advice would be appreciated—thanks in advance!

  • The Connect app and the website don't sync with each other, they are 2 different ways of showing the same data for a given Connect account.

When your watch syncs, it syncs to your account, and the app is only one way of doing so. Other ways include syncing via Wi-Fi (for watches that have music) and syncing via Garmin Express on a computer (with the watch plugged in via USB).

Having said that, I can't explain what you're seeing, except:

    - a huge bug in the Connect website (I'm not seeing it for any of my activities though)

    or

    - you're not really using the same account for the website and the app (but this wouldn't explain why some or most data is the same)

To double-check, what you could do for any activity which seems to be missing/incomplete in the website:

    - find the same activity in the Connect app

    - tap the share button and tap Web Link

    - The Connect app will annoyingly ask you if you want to make the activity public (unfortunately you have to say yes, but you can reverse this later)

    - Select Copy (this will annoyingly copy a link to the activity *and* some text for sharing, which means you can't open it directly in a browser)

    - Open your notes app and paste the text into a note

    - Click on the link and open it a browser on your phone (or send the link to a computer and the same there)

    - Verify the activity on the Connect website is the same as that on the phone

    - In the Connect app, tap on the padlock icon to make the activity private again, if necessary

Alternatively, you could do things the other way around (which avoids the step of making the activity public):

    - open an activity which seems to be missing/incomplete in the website

    - copy the URL of the activity and open it in your phone's browser (like Safari on iOS)

    - your phone should show a banner asking you to open the page in the Connect app. Tap Open

    - If the same activity opens in the Connect app, at least you can be sure it's the same account for both the app and the website
