I would really like to see Heart Rate Variability incorporated into the current range of watches, your competitors have already done this with existing products.
This surely the big feature that can not be ignored?
Heart rate variability can be used as a training effectiveness and/or overall stress indicator, which is useful in a performance training context. Firstbeat's analysis methods incorporated in the Suunto T6 and other watches estimates VO2 thresholds based on R-R analysis. However, this method and others such as used by other heart rate monitor vendors are generally proprietary - they're either patented or else they're kept as trade secrets, and development of an independent meaningful R-R analysis for performance training would require a substantial R&D effort.
Why hasnt the Garmin added Heart Rate Variability to the 310XT? It is all over the triathlon magazine. Third parties are taking garmin data downloads to calculate HRV post exercise but this is best as a test first thing to determine the level of training for the coming day.
