GPS accuracy question

Hi, I bought my 405 yesterday, it is my first sport-watch so I have a Q about GPS accuracy;

What does it mean GPS accuracy is for example is 6m?
I cover (walk) a path of aprox. 66m but device show I cover only 11m (accuracy on my watch was 6m).
Does that mean watch recorded 1m for every 6m I coverd walking?

I was outside of my house, there was no trees or roofs over my head so I was very surprised about my result.

And one more question about satelite graph, when is signal full; when column is blank or BLACK?

Thnx in advance :)
  • I believe that it means that the location it has locked it within 95% confidence.

    Usually if the GPS unit is off 6 meters, most points are off in the same axis for the given points.

    If you let it sit for a few minutes before going, its a good habit. I get accuracy within about 3-5 meters if it sits for 5 minutes with a clear sky and one horizon showing. I turn it on, set it on a post and stretch before heading out.
