TrainingPeaks Virtual .FIT manual export -> Garmin Connect no longer working

Like many users, I have the near-daily pain of trying to do this manually. Until recently I managed the dirty download and upload process but suddenly after mac OS upgrade Sequoia 15.4 it's not working.

Anyone experiencing similar?

  • I have an update from TP Customer support and a quick summary of my reply to them

Thanks for your reply. This is only partially helpful. I played around with this for *quite* a long time and I’ve re-written your response below so you can update your response if you choose to make a more complete reply.
There are multiple ways to export data from TP. Depending on which output you choose will affect the ux for import to Garmin.
    1. Option One: via individual workout. Select the workout and from its individual window select: “Export Workout File” (download icon is shown) - the resulting dialogue suggests numerous formats including .FIT file recommended for Garmin. THIS DOES NOT WORK
    2. Option Two: via individual workout. Select the workout and from its individual window select: “Files” (file icon is shown) from there choose “uploaded files” and download the workout file which has .FIT.GZ extension. Some further customisation will enable it to be forced into Garmin. POOR ux
3 Option Three: best option. From profile settings select “Export Data” -> “Workout Files” pick the workout date range and download a zip file containing the workout. Extract this to generate .FIT file. THIS OPTION WORKS. Further enhancement. The .FIT file will not put the Training Effect data into Garmin, this requires an additional step. I use FIT File Tools to process the file and then upload to Garmin complete with Training Effect data.
