Date / time / speed missing from saved tracks

Hi, my first post, I hope it's in the right place! I've had an eTrex Legend HCx for a little while now and, as I become more confident in using it, I have noticed that Active Tracks uploaded to my pc have actual (well GMT anyway) date / time and consequently speed recorded but if I save a track in the Garmin and upload that, then date /time shows as the upload date /time for every point and speed is zero. Apparently this is normal.

Now to the question. I was wondering if adding a microSD card allows the extra information to be retained when an Active Track is saved in the Garmin or whether I'd be wasting my money? Has anyone tried?

Thanks,
John

    TOOSLOW2007,

If you have a microSD card in the Legend HCx, it will only hold detailed maps and your active track log. The active track log will contain the same information if it is saved to the internal memory or the microSD card. If the active log is being saved to the microSD card, and you save the track, it will erase the time and speed information for each track point. The saved track will be saved to the units internal memory.

To save the active track log to the microSD card, please go to: Main Menu > Tracks > Setup > Data Card Setup > and check the box next to Log Track To Data Card.

    Thanks Damon

That's what I suspected. Ah well, it's not such a big deal. Maybe a new or optional feature in a new GPS in a few years time, after all memory capacities only go up, prices down :) Thanks for the help.

    TOOSLOW2007,

Actually, we do have some devices that do not delete that information when a track is saved. Our Colorado's, Oregon's and Dakota's will keep the time/date and speed information. For more information on these units, please visit our website.

    Missing time data

Garmin, can you please correct your software so that time data is also stored in a "saved" track. I bought a eTrex Legend H a year ago for the purpose of geotagging photos. What a huge disappointment to learn that time data is NOT saved.
