Flash screen--Updating GPS Firmware

Hi,

Looking for some insight into this issue.
I was helping a friend with their Nuvi 250, as they do not have a computer.
Used the Web Updater to check for newer firmware.
5.0 was available, so through the web updater installed the update.
Everything went smoothly.
Rebooted Nuvi, flash screen shows Updating GPS Firmware.
Looked good.

Settings show that 5.0 firmware is operational.

The problem........

Every time the unit is turned on since the firmware update.
The flash screen, "Updating GPS Firmware" comes up, pauses, then continues.

I've tried resetting, as well as reinstalling 5.0 firmware.
Flash screen continues to come up when turned on.

Looking for any suggestions.

Problem solved

OK I solved the problem.

In the RemoteSW folder.
I deleted the GCD files.

This has solved the continuous flash screen on boot up, and the unit appears to be functioning normally.

Flashing Screen

Where do yo find the remotesw folder? My 260w flashes upon power up and updater does not see it when connected via usb.

Problems updating nuvi 260W

Hi, I see that you can update your nuvi 250, i'm triyin g to do so with mi nuvi 260W, but nothing happens (software version 4.00 remains), I tried with webupdater and garmin website as well, and the software version and firmware doesnt update.

Is there any special procedure to update. I see a nuvi 260w with version 6.40.thanks

OK I solved the problem.

I've been on this ALL day. I couldnt update past 4.0. I tried removing GSD files no luck, then in a last attempt I deleted EVERYTHING in the RemoteSW folder including the .bin file.

UPDATE POPUP GONE!!
