Why wont it recognize my SD card

I have music and photos downloaded on a 4gb SD card the music is from itunes and the photos are just from my computer. This is a garmin nuvi 780 receiver gps. Its like the SD card is not even there. How do I get my music and photos to play and come up on my garmin?
