corrupt

Hi there,

I have a corrupt .fit file and a Mac device so can't use the regular tool.. Can someone advise how to fix it?

You do have some options. I assume you've tried a manual upload of the file to Garmin Connect Web? How Do I Manually Upload an Activity I Recorded to Garmin Connect?

If you get any message other than Import Complete, then there is a problem with the file. Attach it to this thread. We can take a look to see if it is repairable by attaching the file to your post

Zip the file, then in a reply post Insert >> Image/video/file >> click Upload >> browse for file >> OK.
Or upload the fit file to a reputable file sharing service, such as OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, make the file public, then paste a link to the file in your post.

If you want to try to repair it yourself:

FIT File Tools which will work on either Windows or MacOS as it runs in the browser and does not require additional software. In many cases it's just a matter of running the file through the section remover.
FIT File Viewer, also runs in the browser and is able to fix files in a lot of cases. Developed by forum member HarryOnline.
FitEdit has free optons that will work in most cases. Developed by forum member Doug.

Hi,
Thanks for the help! Indeed tried manual upload, but it says it does not accept my file. Also tried manual upload in Strava but does get stuck analysing the file.

Also tried your first option FIT File Tools, but the file still does not get accepted.

Can you tell me something about this activity? Unless your activity was less than 2 km, the file size of 9 KB is way too small. Check if you have any other files in the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder or TempFIT folder of your device.

Also, FIT File Viewer, does work, but you'll end up with a very short cycling activity.

It was a ride of 63 km and 2:10h duration. There is nothing else in my folder so I will just take the loss then. Probably the Garmin device was just too full.

In that case, the typical suggestion to help minimize the occurrence of corrupt fit files in the future is to sync your device then remove all activity fit files from your Garmin device using these directions - Removing Recorded Activities on a Garmin Fitness Device
