  • I am about to click to start my free month trial. Lets see how long before the rest of the Garmin Connect features become hidden behind a paywall.

  • I’m not going to pay for a subscription, bought an expensive watch and cycling computer and if i want some extra features then i have to pay for it? I bet some features we have now disappears behond the paywall.

  • I don't think it'll work like that. It's just if you're looking for development of any new features on the standard offer, you'd better be a fan of watching tumbleweed blow past. The only new stuff on the standard level will be where new functionality on the latest hardware has to be supported. In other news, did I not read somewhere recently that Garmin's profits are through the roof?

  • I don't think I'll take out a free trial yet. Probably better to wait until the bugs have been ironed out. So, maybe 2028?

  • It is more than sad that Garmin has not yet managed to offer training plans for “walking”.

You can't even create your own walking training. Using the “other” profile and then making cumbersome adjustments every time is not an option.

It is incomprehensible to me why Garmin does not offer “walking” as a training.

It's 2025 and hiking and walking events are becoming more and more popular. And this summer I would like to take part in a half marathon event. But I can't even add my walking training plan manually in Connect.

At least in this point Garmin is missing the future.

The time when walking was a niche is over. I know of walking events that go over 170 km. Garmin should take a look at the target times that are being walked. And that's not supposed to be a sport?

Finally offers the possibility to offer this as training.

    This is long overdue.

I see. Suunto can do it. Why not Garmin?

  • So they finally let you see your watch activity on your phone, which kind of takes the edge off how painful it is to log strength training. But naturally, the part that could actually make the whole process smoother? That’s tucked behind the premium paywall. It's not like syncing data between your watch and phone racks up major server costs, so it really just feels like they're charging for the bare minimum now. Instead of fixing their clunky UI for everyone, they’ve decided to slap a price tag on basic functionality. Classic.

  • Making my first post here so Garmin can likely ignore the feedback that they are ruining their differentiating value as a company by putting features behind a paywall when they already have the most expensive devices.  I use Garmin because there is no subscription for the software, and the hardware is excellent.

It seems that the direction Garmin is deciding to go is the enshifitication route.

Thanks for helping me decide that I do not need an Edge 1050 and a Tactix 8 AB model this year.  I will continue to use my older hardware and see where Garmin goes as a company.

  • bought a 965 one year ago

    will sell it soon

    Bye Bye garmin

  • As the owner of. Fenix 8 and an Edge 1050 I am totally pissed by Garmin Connects inability to get the so called "integrated training status" to sync calories properly. The most basic of metrics missing and now they want us to pay. What a joke.

  • as a customer i love the garmin products

The garmin watches are expensive. But totally worth it. I have bought several and love them

However I feel so strongly about this being completely bad. AI features don’t really interest me, i get why those need to be a subscription as there is ongoing costs in operating them.

But not being able to see the ongoing activities on the app if I don’t pay is what worries me. Useful features being paywalled. How sad is how good companies are succumbing to this *** of everything.

I don’t want to pay for one feature in a package of useless ones. I don’t want new features that would have been free on updates now being put behind a wall just because of greed.

At least if you are going to behave like a printer company subsidizing the actual hardware and then doing a subscription feels like less bad.

Seems like a have your cake and eat it too.

Please as a company listen to your customers regarding this. it is not good
