Garmin Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar Calendar not accessible unless it is connected to the phone via BT

Current Software version is 20.22 but after version 20.16 there has been a major issue. I cannot access the calendar app, glance etc. on the watch unless it is connected via bluetooth with the phone. It shouldn't be the case though since it makes no sense and above all before that update the watch was working perfectly. Nonetheless, it was not fixed by the subsequent updates till the current version. One solution it would be to reset the watch but is this what we are going to do for every software update? It is a shame really Garmin has become so unreliable and messy with their updates. I would appreciate if anyone has any suggestions or workaround. Thanks

  • I don't think it ever worked without the connection to the phone.

  • It worked. You simply had to sync it and then once synced you could see all synced data, around a week. It doesn't make sense to have a calendar feature on a sports watch otherwise. It is a bug. I have the watch once it was released and was working flawlessly, only after that update....

  • On my Enduro 3 I can disconnect from the phone and see two days. It will warn me that I'm no longer connected, but I can view everything. It is only two days showing even when I'm connected to the phone. It was also two days on my Forerunner 945. I don't remember if I could disconnect from the phone with FR945 and that it still worked.

  • It is a normal behaviour. For example I design my training on intervals.icu and automatically syncs with Garmin. The Scheduled workouts are all se in place when you go to "workouts" evenmore in the morning report it tells you the workout that has to be performed, it is the normal behaviour from a sportswatch, the only thing that is not normal is what is happening now with the "Calendar" app and glance. It is certainly a bug. Another similar bug was when you had garmin coach and you wanted to delete the whole plan, there was a case that it wouldn't and the only way to fix it was to reset. But I don't want to do a reset every 2-3 weeks because of a bug on software releases that supposed to be stable.
