Manually enter Tanita measures

It would be useful to be able to manually enter all the measures under Health on Garmin connect. At present the majority of them are only accessible if you have particular Tanita scales.
  • Sounds good. I sent email to your site and would like to offer feedback on your app. Let me know if I can help.

I sent you a link to the first build late last night. Let me know if you didn't get it.

    Thanks!

  • I'm considering writing a tool to do this. Any more details on how exactly you did it would be great to help get me started. Could you also post that csv?

    Thanks!

I'm a bit late and you figure out how to do it :)
What do you finally used to code it ? Tell me If u need help.

I wrote it in .Net. Works very well to throw together quick apps like this.

I've posted a build with instructions for those interested.

  • Hi Mike, thanks so much for taking the time to make this. I'm excited to get it up and running.

I've followed your steps and entered my data in the importer. Everytime I click OK it says "an ERROR has occurred. Please review the error log"

It is creating a .csv file in my directory despite the error, but I'm assuming this isn't the correct ".fit" folder you mention in the directions.

    Any suggestions?
  • Look in the same directory where the .csv was created for a .log file. That should have some info detailing why it wasn't able to create your .fit file. Do you have java installed? That's the most likely culprit. Java is required to create the .fit.
  • Hi, another user with the issue. I am unable to get it to produce a fit file, it will only do a .csv. no mater what options i select (fit/connect or lb/kb) I've tried all combinations, I've deleted the config file, I ran as administrator. I have latest java (update 24). let me know if you need any info from me or my system to help you troubleshoot.

Thanks for working on this tool.
  • It's amazing that the users have had to figure out a way to hack the system, while the Developers are sitting on their thumbs.

    Application to create fit file.

I have been working on a similar app that generates the fit data directly without using the java tools.

So far I am only generating the weight data and the percent of body fat field, as my scale only generates these numbers. I am using the withings scale and I have an older tanita scale that only generates these two pieces of data.

The file workes correctly. I'll be posting a link to the program soon if anyone is interested.

The other app in this post works fine already, but I wanted to see if I could write my own app and eventully build a version for my mac. (Thats a long way off at this point)
  • So what's up ?

GC Team is working on it or have we to use another system ?

It's a big mistake from them in the challenge with Polar.

I'd really like to know if this is being worked on. Is there an update? WILL it be updated?
