Garmin watch fit file amendment

Hi there

If I recorded a trail run incorrectly as a cycle, is there anyway to amend the actual fit file on the watch to display correctly? Fenix 6

I have amended on Garmin Connect but if re download the fit file from Garmin and add back into the watch, it still says a cycle.

Not a massive deal as it is correct in Garmin connect & Strava but I just wondered about the watch element file.

I have tried adjusting the fit file via a couple of applications but it seems to corrupt the file or lose the mapping etc.

That's because Export File in Garmin Connect always exports the original FIT file, regardless of any edits.

You could try https://www.fitedit.io/. It's free and works on Windows and Mac.

FIT File Repair Tool is the gold standard, but it's not free.

Honestly I don't think there's much point in sending the edited file back to the watch, but It would be interesting to see if it works. Either way, running-specific performance stats won't be recalculated on the watch.

Really appreciate the reply and I did try the fitedit site which allowed to adjust certain fields but then it didn't re upload back to the watch properly.

As it is not a big deal, I won't try the fit repair tool if not free.
