MotionBased had an excellent filter system that let us search the entire data base. It was perfect for those of us doing "Horseback Riding" because our races were in areas without towns and our races were separated from each other by 100's of miles. The GC search system is worthless for us. Is there going to be a better filter system in the future?
We simplified the search process to make finding your desired activities easier and faster. In Explore I selected Horseback Riding as the Activity Type and set the location to California. I was met with 32 activities.
Please send details to further describe the problem.
I live and ride in San Diego. I have over 50 rides in Calif myself labeled "Horseback Riding" and none of them show up in Explore. Something is wrong with the function. There are no locations listed so I do not know where those listed rides are from without spending a bunch of time clicking on each ride. I cannot sort by distance which was a great help looking for Endurance Races which are over 40 miles long. Why do you not show a list like in My Activities or like MotionBased did? That was much easier to sift thru.
is a list of all of your activities labled or categorized as "horseback riding" i accomplished this by entering "horsback riding" into the keyword filter, clearning out the value within the starting near box, expanding the show filters button, and entering datezz into the username field.
there is nothing wrong with the function. location also works by you dragging the map to a specific region of the map, thats what we call a bounding box and it counts as a location even though its not named "san diego, ca"
Nice but a little tricky and it only worked because you knew and used my login name. You did not get any of the other hundreds of rides in Calif did you?
There is a lot wrong with the search function when compared to the ease of searching MotionBased. The first biggie is the map. By the time I escape Norway and get to the state I want and zoom the map down to a size that will let me search I can't tell where I am in that state anymore and when I get zero results what then? Am I suppossed to spend hours inching around the state trying to accidently hit on an endurance ride?
We need a list and we need to know location. The little bounding box map should only pop up when you select a ride from the list. Then it would be great to show everything in the box.
if you follow the first link, its horseback riding in california without using your name as a filter. thats how you get the horseback riding activities in california.
I would very much like for this search to work but I am confused. I clicked on the link above and got 32 "horseback rides" in all of California and none of them were mine. Why do mine not show up? Do they show up for anybody else? Many start with names "EchoValley". What happened to the other hundreds of horseback rides? HELP!
I'd have to agree here in that this feature is pretty confusing. If I type in swimming and Michigan I don't see any of my activities. If I zoom to focus on Ann Arbor, however, I see all of my swimming activities. If I type in Ann Arbor, Michigan I also see all of my activities. So yes, the bounding box seems to work when zoomed in on a specific location perhaps, as does typing in a specific city, but why allow a user to type in a broader location if that won't return expected results? Ann Arbor, is afterall a subset of Michigan. It's really not intuitive that a user must rely on the map view to see activities or that an exact city name is required. City, State, Postal, Country or Placename implies that any one of these items would work...and there's nothing on the page that explicitly states your results are tied to the map view bounding box even when typing in a location name. So in my initial search, when I type in Michigan, because the current map view doesn't show my part of Michigan, my activities aren't listed. Only when I shift the map view to contain my city and then re-search using the map view do my activities show up (not to mention there would be no way to view all activities in my state). This page could use some better instructions on how the search function works and possibly a note that not all searches will be possible.
