Run workout not syncing to watch

I've created a custom interval workout for running via the Connect App.

It appears in my Forerunner 55 when I add it to calendar, and I can select it that way, but I can only see 'Today's Suggestion' under workout in the watch.

I've tried restarting the watch, editing the name of the workout to no avail.

Anybody know how to fix this please?

  • What happens if, instead of adding the workout to your calendar, you sync the workout using Send to Device?

  • Thank you so much, now has appeared after pressing that.

It does say that Garmin does not support skipping rest set, whatever that means!

  • No worries!

Yeah Garmin does this thing where it hides workouts from the normal list if you put them on the calendar. Probably just to avoid cluttering up the workout list.

It does say that Garmin does not support skipping rest set, whatever that means!

There’s a new feature in the workout creator — it’s a checkbox for repeats labelled “Skip Last Rest”, which allows you to skip the rest interval of the last repeat, but it requires support on the device.

For example, imagine the following workout:

    - Warmup until lap press

    - 5 x (1200m run, 1:00 rest)

    - Cooldown until lap press

For practical purposes, after the final work interval, most people will want to skip the final 1:00 rest and just go right into their cooldown. Garmin’s new “skip last rest” feature allows you to do so just by ticking a checkbox. But if you check that box in the workout, it won’t actually work for you because your device doesn’t support that.

I think some of the workouts in Garmin Coach and Daily Suggested Workout also make use of this new feature (if available).

(Yes, obviously you can “recreate” this feature by defining your workouts slightly differently: e.g. Warmup; 4 x (1200m run, 1:00 rest); 1200m run; cooldown. But that’s probably not as intuitive or user-friendly for most people)

Having said all that, it sounds like you might have the “skip last rest” checkbox checked on your workout, which is why Connect is warning you that your device doesn’t support it.
