Garmin 255 not switching on

I just bought a garmin nuvi 255. Few minutes after starting to use it, it automatically shut down. When start button is pressed, it only starts for a few seconds then shuts down again.

255W Not Switching On

I am having the same problem.
Used my 255W for 4 months without a problem.
All of a sudden, it will not start.

A reset takes me briefly to the "Loading Maps" message and then, it shuts off.
I plug into my PC and no startup and no recognition of the GPS.

I had assumed that it would start when connected to the PC even if the battery is fried. Anybody have a wild guess?

I have the same issue with my nuvi255 and have searched the garmin forums and FAQs for an answer without success.

I am waiting for a reply from garmin tech support but at this rate I think I'll just have to buy another GPS. After owning an etrex, two g12's and buying three g72's for my work, plus a garmin marine sounder, I'm really disappointed with the nuvi255. Might be time to change to a tom tom.

Anyone have a solution for this?

Just the same

I have the same problem with my nüvi 255w:

It has been working properly for several months but today when I turn it on before finishing of uploading maps, it turn off suddenly and then it repeat the same loop once and again....

I´ll try to contact Garmin support to find out how the solution...

Are you sure the battery is charged? Does it do the same when you have it plugged into the car charger?
