No TCX or GPX export for files bigger than 10MB in connect.garmin.com

What I need is a TCX log file.

However, since recently you can no longer download TCX or GPX files.

This problem occurs when downloading files larger than 10 MB.

All time and in all browsers, the error message 'Uncaught (in promise) -> status: 504' appears repeatedly.

We suspect an issue with the connect.garmin.com website server.

There is no way for the user to resolve this directly.

  • Using runanalyse seemed like using a bazooka to kill a fly

Yeah I agree, but using a 3rd party python library is not an option for some users. runalyze is not the most user-friendly site, but it has a much lower barrier of entry than running a python script.

Glad fit2gpx worked out for you!

  • I do not know the threshold, but my finding is that rides of 3 hours can be exported as tcx or gpx while those of 5-6 hours cant.

And I refer to activities logged by the same device, an Edge530.

Btw nowadays the left part of the screen afe quite commonly pure black, so I have to apply a tweak and use the address of ..../courses or similar.

Normally a page rolad helps, but not always. I know it is not Garmin, but my browser. :-)

  • I do not know the threshold

    Brain is a wonderful thingamy.

Since gpx file of an activity is much smaller than a tcx file of the same activity, and I realized that if a tcx file cannot be exported then not a gpx file either, I decided to test the size if the fit files.

My primary bet was what if there was a threshold for fit files.

fit is 293 KB, tcx is  8696 KB, gpx is 4965 KB

fit is 283 KB, tcx is  8794 KB, gpx is 5282 KB

fit is 295 KB, neither tcx, nor gpx can be exported

fit is 291 KB, neither tcx, nor gpx can be exported

fit is 285 KB, neither tcx, nor gpx can be exported

fit is 275 KB, neither tcx, nor gpx can be exported

My bet was wrong there is no theshold for fit files which could inderectly influence / govern  tcx/gpx export.

My attempts were related to different years, this time different devices, so probably different fit file versions.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, but I never get error msg, just happens nothing even if I wait for a minute or so without touching the keyboard.
