I've had my handheld 60CSx for just over 3 months now (it's just beyond the 90 day electronics return policy by my local Cabela's) and the on/off switch doesn't work. I use this for geocaching and was on vacation with it last week (cruise to Mexico) when this happened. Can't tell you how bummed I was. I did alot of research into GPS units before purchasing this and bought this one because of it's excellent reputation. I'm just wondering if this is a common problem with these. Any input would be appreciated.
My on off button has stopped working too. Garmin wants $110. plus shipping. Unit has not been used very much at all. Wish I could find another solution.
Known problem... Faulty design and quality control
My "enter" button and "down" arrow stopped working all of the sudden. Garmin wants $110 plus shipping to replace the unit with another refurburbished unit. Quite a racket they have going versus fixing a known problem.
I just got the 60csx for Christmas. I have had the same problem. It would freeze up and I couldn't turn it off. Remove the batteries to shut it off. If it did shut off with the switch I would get a loud squeal. To get it to stop I had to remove the batteries. I returned the unit to REI. Tried another and after a week the same thing happened. Returned it. I poster 2 threads with very little response. Garmin support wasn't much help either. Know I'm gun shy on the 60csx. I thought they were one of the best.
Do you have a microSD card in the device?
If so, I would try removing the card.
Also is the software up to date?
