Make Goals Public

Maybe it's just me, but I can't seem to find any public goals on any profile on Garmin Connect.

I set all my data (activities and goals) to "Public" so my friends and family can see how I'm doing. When I'm logged into my account they are visible to me, but when my friends search for my data and go to my personal page the goals are not there?!?

I've searched the forum but didn't find anything on this subject.

what page is that you're calling your "personal page"?
at the moment, there is no way for your friends and family to see your goals. they can see your public activities by going to explore. we wanted to establish a precident of public and private goals so that in the future we could allow others to see your public goals, so the feature is under consideration.

    public goals

This is what I call my "personal public page": http://connect.garmin.com/explore?owner=jwolfdk

It would be nice if my public goals were showing on the bottom of that page just like on the dashboard: http://connect.garmin.com/dashboard

explore is not your personal page. we'll be coming up with that concept in the coming months. explore is a page in which you can "discover a world of activities." (as it notes at the top of the page) there is not, nor will there likely be any plans to show goals on the explore page, since it's not really in the scope of what we want to accomplish with that page.
how would you like, instead, perhaps the opportunity to share a public calendar with your goals and activities on them? or a user profile page with widgets much like your current dashboard that your friends could see? i'd appreciate the feedback.
    thanks

also, can i get a moderator to move this to the feature requests. this is clearly not a bug, no goals have ever been visible on the explore page.

    thanks,

I'm sorry, I thought it was a bug since I had the opportunity to select "public goal" and it didn't show up in any public place. Obviously it was a "feature not yet implemented" =)

I'd really like a personal page with widgets much like my current dashboard where my goals are shown.
A page I could link to from my blog like: http://connect.garmin.com/personal?owner=user

I also like your idea of making the calender public as well on this personal page, as it is nice to see how often friends are training and to be able to see how they progress. Maybe even reports could have a "show to public" option?

I love your quick responses btw. It's wonderful to know that the developers care and wish to make Garmin Connect even better. Thank you!

    Back from the dead

This thread summarizes what I was about to post.

Some sort of public page where others can view my goals and exercises.

That, and recurring goals, would make my workplace challenges much more fun!
  • Why cant i put in minutes in a goal!?!?! Only hours??

I question the fundamental practice of goals. It depends very much on your personality whether you want to make them public or not. I used to know a friend who used to be very secretive about their goals. Maybe because so she hadn't to apologize if she doesn't reach them. On the other side goals can be very motivational. Everyone should decide for theirselves whether they want to make them public.
