Manual Activity Entry Issue

Former Member
Former Member
When attempting to add a manual activity using the web site, I get this message:

"Your "Start" value is not within permissible limits."

The activity name was "ice hockey", type was "skating", time was 1:15:00.

Anybody have a clue what the problem is?

Thanks.

I figured out what is going on. Even though it is still 10/4/2009 in my time zone, the web site defaulted to 10/5/2009 and hence the activity was in the future and not valid.

I think the overall Garmin software and web experience over the last 1 1/2 months has been pretty frustrating. The many issues with their software on the Mac, web site outages, and web site issues are really ruining the potential of their great GPS watches.

The Manual Activity page does not allow activities to be created for future dates, only past ones. As you noticed, the combination of your date/time/time zone values were in the future, which is why you got the message.

As a side note, you should probably go to your Display Preferences and set your Upload Time Zone if you have not done so already. This preference is used to populate the date and time fields on the Manual Activity initial page load. My guess is that you might still have the system default for this preference (GMT), causing these initial values to be in the future.
