Import CSV file with Fitbit Step Data

I am trying to import my Fitbit Data for my steps into Garmin using the import functions provided and continously get the same error - "An erro occurred with your upload. Please try again"

I have tried the following formats

Date, Steps

2014-11-18, 63

2014-11-19, 3118

... etc

I have also tried it with quotes around the strings

Date, Steps

"2014-11-18", "63"

"2014-11-19", "3118"

... etc

I also tried importing an "xls" file as well and that failed.  I have 10 years worth of solid data.  Really hoping there is some way I can pull that Fitbit data over.   At this point, all I really are about are the steps.

Thanks id advance for any help.

Unfortunately, nothing seems to work

  • what I did on two occasions actually, while moving from Polar to Garmin, I got data exports from Polar, which needed conversion and upload via Garmin Connect web.

check if fitbit platform gives you such option to export history (in specific formats, like .fit or other that can be converted to Garmin's.fit), that's what should work.

on android there's also app called healthsync, which can pull in your historical data from many platforms, directly to garmin, but that may be limited vs your 10 yrs history, not sure.

  • Unfortunately, Google bought out Fitbit and they got rid of the web managament.  I have an iphone and the only thing the IOS app allows you to download is a zip file with a number of folders that have nothing to do with steps.   Found some online tools that allowed me to convert Health App data to a csv file.    I have all of the data for the last 10 years.   Just can't find a way to upload step data into Garmin.

    Thanks for the suggestions though

  • I am trying to do the same thing and can't get anything to work either. Sigh.

  • Actually, I figured it out. It seems that Garmin cannot ingest the data unless it's one row per day. So it can only take the compiled data for the entire day, rather than the breakdown per minute which is the default of the complete FitBit export. The only way I've found to get the right data set is to use the "Export a Selection of Your Fitbit Data" option, which requires creating a separate file for every single month since there is a 30 day max. Oy. I've been tracking my data with FitBit since 2015... this is going to take a while....
