Here we are. We've got supercomputers on our wrists talking ANT fluently.
How about... Garmin/3rd party developing programmable ANT transmitters with decent range and power enough to, for example be placed in km-markers at races. They could transmit code published by the race administrator/timing responsible identifying the race (and km-marker), and we, the users could choose (310) Settings - Run Settings - Auto Lap - By External Transmitter - Enter Transmitter ID.
Perhaps they could be made so cheap that it becomes feasible to put them in the km-markers for trails etc. If I'll be running some trail X, I'd just enter the published ID code for that trail.
Is there some serious flaw in my "vision"?
