Incorrect steps count

Yesterday I completed my daily step goal and my Forerunner 245 displayed the relative message. When I synced my watch with the iOS app, the steps count was wrong and the total was below the daily goal.

Is there a way to manually correct the number of steps, since I actually took them?

  • Unfortunately, you cannot easily enter steps manually. You might want to read this document to see why this might have happened - My Garmin Watch is Not Accurately Counting Steps

  • For what it's worth. Yeasterday at 11:30 PM I went upstairs to go to bed. My watch notified me that I had completed my Floor goal. The watch synced a few minutes later and my Floor count was back to1 less than the goal. This stuff is becoming more and more unreliable. Intensity minutes are added and visible, and then they change and/or disappear....etc.

  • Always make sure the data like Steps, Floors, or Intensity Minutes is correctly shown on their detailed screen, or in GC web. Only then you can be sure the data was synced correctly to the server. The In Focus or Glances panels show just the live (unsynced) data, and if the syncing fails for whatever reason, the final result may indeed differ.

If you backdate the time on the phone and on the watch, you can add the missing steps, sync, and then set the time back to current. It works even several days back.
