Why does it not have enough space for all of North America I could only do U.S. ?

I have found that my GPS will send me over the cliff or into rock walls or into fields where there are no roads. It will try to send me off Hiway# 1 in Canada down a secondary road and has on occasion said turn right when the arrows point correctly left. There are other flaws but I will check these out first. Thanks
