Goals do not calculate properly

Former Member
Former Member
I have a series of goals related to training for an event in November. All goals are for the parent category "running". Activities in the child categories of "treadmill" and "street" are counting toward the goal. "trail" running is not being counted. I have not tested track.

Garmin tech support didn't seem to get it after a few email exchanges and suggested that I set my goals to include "all activities". Hopefully someone in development will read this and make the change to fix the goal calculation.

I am happy to send any information or screenshots. A good example is activity 13210317 not counting toward the running goal for 9/7 to 9/13.

I have the same issue, for ongoing goals and historical goals. These latter have been totally messed up, with the last update from garmin connect
for example this activity has been withdrawn from my historical goals

this one too was not taken into account in my ongoing goal

Calories not being counted for goal

I set up a first goal last week. Setting a goal of 1000 calories to burn in a short week. It seemed to work fine.

I then sent up a future goal (last week) to burn 1500 calories this week, Monday to Sunday.

I didn't ride all week but went on a short ride yesterday 10% of goal reached. 1342 C left.

Today, on the last day of the goal I did a longer ride and burned up 1352 C.

So you would expect the goal to have been reached, but GC hasn't taken today's ride into account and still sits at 10% of goal.

It doesn't bother me too much, but as it is a feature, it should at least work. Any ideas on how to fix it?

    Goals do not calculate properly

HI, same problem for me, the last day not counted. I'm looking forward to the update. I have also seen that my goal history is not showing all my goals. It seems that some of the first goals I set up in the weeks in June and July have now disappeared!
  • Goals Come Up Short

Same for me. The last day of a goal "period" is not being counted. so it looks as if all of my goals have come up short! This is an important feature for me and I'd like for it to work. Can you fix it, Garmin?
  • Goals bug - activities not included

And another one - same thing has happened to me.

An activity done on the last day of a goal period is not been included in the total, causing me to apparently fall short for the week & miss the target.

I did wonder if it had anything to do with there being no GPS data (it was an indoor bike session done on a turbo trainer; Edge 705 with cadence/ speed sensor to calculate distance) but I guess it's not that if others are finding the same thing happens with GPS data.

    All,

This is a known issue involving goals, where they do not include the last day of the tracking period. It'll be fixed in a future release. Thanks for the feedback!

Glad to know that you guys are following the forum.

    A question on GC releases:

This online Garmin Connect is not distributed software. No CDs to burn and shelves to stock. Why then the delay in implementing fixes?

I would imaging you have lists of bugs to fix, teams of developers and a few managers who like to be kept in the loop. Why not have weekly updates? Why wait fore a major update to fix a whole host of small issues?

I have seen quite a few bugs that could be fixed by tweaking just a few lines of code. Why not just do it?
