API client error from Google Maps

When viewing an activíty I suddenly get this error:

"The Google Maps API server rejected your request. The "client" parameter specified in the request is invalid."

The client parameter used is "gmetrial-garminconnect". Hmmm... "trial"?

Same here. On the dashboard the error happens ~5 times, then the page completes loading. When viewing an activity the error happens once then the page loads normally. The specific text of the error message is:

The Google Maps API server rejected your request. The "client" parameter specified in the request is invalid.

    This is on Firefox 3.5.
  • Getting the same error. Garmin connect is real buggy now!!!!! This is also causing blue screens.

Garmin Connect+Internet Explorer 8= "client ID problem"

after upgrading to Internet Explorer8 opening pages keep saying "Initialization failed: please check the client id,
swf location, version and network availability.", "wrong google maps API.... wrong client"
    how to solve this problem?

They're not paying Google, so google cut them off

Garmin were using a trial account for all the Google maps API functionality in Garmin Connect. Presumably Google pointed out that this does not comply with the ToS before cutting them off, but maybe I'm being too generous to Google.

Alternatively, it's possible that Garmin bought the appropriate license, and just didn't configure the key in their site properly, but if this were the case I would have thought that they'd have it working by now. I suspect that they're in negotiations with the Google maps product manager.

Maps are temporarily unavailable. We are working with Google to restore maps site wide. We apologize for the inconvenience.

    From the GC Site.
