Intensity Minutes calculation for Zwift rides

Morning All,

Does anybody know why for many Zwift activities, "Intensity Minutes" are not calculated on Garmin side?
And sometimes they are without any reason.

For exemple I have done a 2 activities the 3 december:
- On first one, a warm-up, intensity minutes where calculated.
- On second one, a race, intensity minutes where not calculted.

These 2 activities where done in same conditions, one just after the other one. That"s why I don't understand it was calculated for the first one but not the second one.

Thanks by advance for your answers

  • Intensity minutes are calculated by the watch (and by certain Edge computers). So if you do not wear the watch, you won't get any IMs. And if you wear it, and do not connect the HRM strap to it, and do not start an activity on it, it may record only a rather low number, since in the non-activity mode, the HR sensor samples the HR much less frequently, and in low power mode.

Also Garmin's HRM-Pro can get you the IMs, if it is connected directly to Garmin Connect, and you do not wear the PWD (Primary Wearable Device - the watch)

  • ok thanks for the explanation.
I record the activity only via Zwift and Garmin sensors (HRM + power meter) that's why IMs are not updated.
Have a nice day and again thanks for your quick answer
