Reschedule a missed workout in Garmin Coach Plan

I missed a plan yesterday on my half marathon training plan with Coach Amy.  Really wanted to make it up today but the App or watch doesn't allow me to do so.  I did some research and found some article saying that the Garmin Coach Plan intentionally does not allow reschedule on missed workouts (only on future ones), because the plan is "adaptive".  While it's makes sense at some level, it's really unhelpful in practice. The workout I missed is a long run which I really want to make up. It's very different than missing an easy run which I have 3 sessions every week.  I can of course still run a long run outside of the Coach plan but I'm sure if I don't do it within the Coach plans it will affect my future training plan exactly because it is "adaptive" to how I've executed the plans so far. 

I think it's a design flaw to arbitrarily forbid making up for all missed workouts. I think the users should at least be able to 'make-up' for a missed workout wthin the last day or two. 

Please let me know if there's a way to make up a missed workout? 

  • As said many times, you have two options.

    If you remember what that workout was - create copy of it manually and execute.

    Second option, which has more sense to me, is just continue what Coach will suggest for future workouts as they should adopt to your target goal.

    You cannot reverse time. Right? If not, than you have a bit less time to accomplish what you want, and that mean you should train a bit harder (?) but definitely bit different than it was scheduled for yesterday.

    That is why human Coach is constantly monitoring your fitness and progress and tries to create future workouts based on it.

  • You have couple opinions. 
    1. If you know you will miss your workout, reschedule it by the end of the workout day. 
    2. Sometimes it is possible to select missed workout from calendar on the watch, not from Coach widget. 
    3. it might also be possible to select such workouts from workouts available under run activity, but this you need to check. 

    I did couple Coach training plans in the past and for sure some of these options were work for me.
