migration

Hi,

I'm still missing more than 200 activities in GC. When will the Motion Based migration be finished?

Still mostly short activities is all I have

I haven't had many of my longer activities transfer. Has anyone had any with more than the 1000 trackpoints transfer (or whatever the relevant amount is)? Is this a "in the next several months" for the longer activities, a statement which is very noncommital.
  • Just calm down, they apparently have 1,500 users "wow" and it is taking months to move the last 20% of activities???? Deal with it!!! Because

    GC will not
Make good on the promise that GC will be better than MB...
Move your data in a timely manor
Give you a completion date for the migration
Release official updates about functionality plans

I have had no new activities migrated since the initial few short ones from 2006. I have uploaded some recent activities. But nothing is migrated for 2007, 2008, 2009 and most of 2006.

I would like to be able to compare activities from prior years in GC - someday...

The hold-up is probably the trackpoint limit that is being imposed during this phase of the migration. I also have probably 100 runs missing from 2008. The ones that have migrated are less than 7 miles or so. I don't believe there's been an official word as to specifically when the limit will be lifted or if there is something else going on.

I don't believe it is. I have several activities less than 1000 trackpoints that have not been migrated.

FWIW, all these activities are private, so there it is possible that public activities are being prioritized over private ones; but I in that case I would have expected the public/private criteria to have disclosed in a similar way to the 1000 trackpoint limit.

As far as I'm concerned, there is no objective evidence that suggests an active migration is in progress.

I have been checking every few days. I have noticed that I am seeing more activities listed, above what I've been uploading currently. It appears to be happening, but at a snail's pace.

All you or I can do is guess, so an office update on how the migration is moving forward would be helpful.

I've spent 2 hours creating a series of worksheets to figure out what has and what hasn't migrated...

For me, there's no rhyme or reason. I'm a cyclist and had over 6,000 miles logged in Motion Based.

About half of my rides have migrated and half haven't.

The unmigrated rides are all over the board on time/distance/date, etc.

I'm VERY disappointed. I'm feeling misled and ill informed.

Just checked and there are 11 out of 354 of my activities migrated. All 11 occurred in mid-year 2006 and seem to have totally arbitrary characteristics. As stated above, nothing migrated for 2007, 2008 or 2009.
  • Hey GC,

It boils down to this... Per the last update the migration should have been completed by now and that was after they first missed SLA. At this point we are running MONTHS behind the original date. We have not seen any evidence that GC is making migration a priority considering the limited updates that have been released.

Is Garmin able to provide a new completion date for the migration?

    a) Yes it will be completed on this day ________
    b) No

If no please provide a detailed explanation of the holdup and when we can expect a completion date to be released. Because the 1000 point track point excuse is not holding water at this point.
