Export everything from activities page to Excel

Hi,

I see this has been requested before, but I'd like to request it again. It would be very useful.

I'd like to be able to export my entire history (from the activities list) to Excel. My history is getting rather large and I am worried that if the Garmin servers ever go down catastrophically I would lose it all, so I would like a backup copy in xlsx format.

Hope you people at Garmin can do this at some point. It would be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

p.s - Thanks for coming up with the forerunner 405 cx. This was one expensive watch but it's some of the best money I've ever spent :)

If you'd like a local copy of your activities, you also have the option to use Garmin Training Center. This will save everything to your local computer/network.

    Training Center for Windows
    Training Center for Mac (beta)

Yeah I agree and this is an option I am considering (in fact I might do it tonight), but I would imagine it would be easy for your webmasters to create a downloadable excel file (xls, xlsx, csv) for the entire activities list and I hope they will consider it. I am sure lots of your users would use it.

    Thanks for your reply.
  • You might check the "feature request" section or do a search and see if it has already been requested. I believe it has, but can't swear to it.

P.S. I'm a moderator, not a Garmin employee. Also known as "overly enthusiastic user." ;)

Sorry - I did address you as if you worked for Garmin, but I know you are a moderator. I was in too much of a hurry when I replied.

It has been requested before (I searched). I just wanted to ask again to add weight to the request.

I am hoping that Garmin employees read the feature request page.

By the way I just started importing my history into Garmin Connect but it is really pretty bad (in my opinion), and I'd rather get my history into excel.

I have opened a tcx file in excel before and it works, but what you get is way way too much information. What is required is a simple excel download that only gives the information that you see in the activities list.

They already have an excel download for reports. I don't understand why they can't do the same thing for the activities list. It's already laid out in table format like a spreadsheet anyway.

Hope some Garmin webmasters see this.

Incidentally, I love my 405 cx and Garmin Connect is great. I just think it could do with this extra tweak.

    Many thanks ;)
  • I agree completely! Coming from an industry (survey and engineering) where importing and exporting to industry standard file formats is an absolute necessity, we really do need to see some sort of feature as suggested. Even if it were just a CSV export, then this could straight into Excel.

I've also got problems with the size of my history, and am currently using two other on-line logging sites to maintain my data... it would be nice to just use the one, i.e. Garmin Connect;-) but I do need a way to periodically get all of my data out.

GTC is good as far as it goes, but it would be great to only have to download my Garmin Edge into one system!
  • "I have a dream"...

A common XML format for training data would be useful.
We already have GPX for GPS data.
How hard can it be? ;-)

I was hoping someone from Garmin could reply on this subject. Would any Garmin people care to let us know if this feature is a possibility?

    Thanks

    +1

I just bought my Forerunner 405 and have no activities in my GC yet, but as an excel nerd, I'd LOVE to be able to download all of the raw data directly from GC into Excel (or an Excel-compatible format) once I do so that I could manipulate as I want.

Since clearly others have requested the same functionality, I'll just bump this topic to the top rather than create a whole new thread on a tired subject.

Exporting Activity Data into Excel is certainly a Feature I'd like to Request.

    Thanks!

It appears Garmin are not in the least interested in providing this feature (which is unfortunate).

I hope they start listening to their customers a bit more. Maybe they are worried that we would stop using Garmin Connect (I read this is going to become chargeable in future), but I would still use Garmin Connect even if I had to pay for it. I'd just like a copy of everything in excel as well.

Is that too much to ask?

I don't know what they're afraid of. I like GC a lot, but there are things that I'd like to do w/ the data that I can more easily do in Excel. I don't understand how that's a threat to their site.

I'd be disappointed if GC became a subscription service. I dropped $300 on a freaking watch... isn't that enough???

If GC becomes subscription, I'll be downloading the desktop software for my Forerunner.
