Adding Shoes, need to ability to add miles already ran on shoes.

Recently purchased the Garmin Forerunner 965. In loading my shoes, there is Not a feature to add mile already ran on the shoes. When loaded the shoe it ask for the date first used, this should be a prompt if the date first used is older than current date to allow miles already ran on the shoes to be added. I could not find this feature, so I assume it does not exist .

You could add a manual activity with the concerned missing mileage, and assign the shoes to it. It does not have to be a Run activity (assuming you are speaking about running shoes). You can also use Walk, Hike, or even Cycling for adding the mileage in this way. It avoids skewing your Running stats with a huge run.

Another option is simply deducing the already done distance from the total mileage (you can note it in the name or nickname of the gear)
