ANT Stick vs. BlueTooth (Or WiFi)

It would be nice for my GPS (in my case FR405) to be able to communicate with any computer via Bluetooth or WiFi.

The advantages would be:

1) I do not have to carry the ANT Stick with me in order to upload my data (For work I move my laptop currently).

2) GC could be enhanced to load the user data from any computer, allowing the user to avoid carrying a laptop along trips.

I hope yu find this a good idea :),

I echo supporting the use of standards such as Bluetooth and USB. As a frequent traveler, it's an extra pain carrying proprietary accessories.

In that vein, I'd love it if
    1) Use Bluetooth for wireless data transfers instead of the ANT stick. Or at least support Bluetooth without the ANT stick.

    2) Return to using standard mini USB connections for charging the devices (e.g. FR405). It's somewhat cool that the charging cable for the FR405 is unique, but ultimately a burden to have to use that specific cable. At minimum, I like the earlier mini USB to proprietary dock better. It's like having to have different chargers for cell phones, which manufacturers are finally moving away from.

This is also a good idea because it would make it possible for us to develop iphone and ipad apps that communicate with Garmin.

I did some searching and I think they use any since ant is low energy-- if the watch used bluetooth it would need to be charged more often, also it makes the HRM and foot pod very light with only a tiny battery that last for years.

So I don't think we'll see bluetooth pairing.

If it's not possible to revamp the devices I'd like to see a smaller USB stick. One that I can leave in my laptop and won't interfere with the portability.
