Garmin Fan Badge

I bought a Garmin Varia radar for my bike and am very disappointed that I can't figure out how to add the device to my Garmin connect app and get the Garmin Fan badge. Is there something that I am overlooking? I have friends who seem to have gotten the badge for adding the Garmin scale. If I'm going to spend this much money on a Garmin device I ought to at least get the Fan badge.

Only devices compatible with Garmin Connect can be added. Varia is not one. You can find the list of compatible devices at https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/125677/pn/010-D1303-01#devices

I think that the list may be missing HRM-Pro, HRM-Fit, Speed Sensor 2, Index devices, and perhaps some others, but Varia does not interact with Garmin Connect.
