Can I share my watch and upload to two profiles?

My girlfriend sometimes borrow my FR 405 and I'd like to know if she can register at Garmin Connect and then have her data sent to her account from my account when I sync the watch?

Or would we have to sync the watch to her account when she has been out for a run and sync it to mine when I've been out? The old fashion way.

Thanks in advance!
  • You can't have her runs sent to her account from hers.

There are multiple ways to do this.

You could have all runs loaded to your account and you just delete those that aren't yours. She could log into Garmin Connect and manually upload her runs.

Or if you're using Windows, you can each have your own Windows user that connects to the appropriate Garmin Connect account. You would log into your Windows account before syncing your run and she would log into her Windows account. This would need to be done before every sync.

Or just get her her own watch. ;)

  • I hope Garmin still allows that. My girlfriend needs to borrow a GPS watch for a virtual marathon. Hopefully it will work.

  • You can register a device with multiple accounts, but it brings a bunch of problems:

    • The watch must always be connected to a single account at a time, otherwise it is unpredictable where the data lands, when you sync the watch. One part may land in one account, and other part in the other one. This is in fact probably the most frequent reason of diverse sync problems, that we are seeing daily here on the forum. It means when you connect the watch to her account, you have to remove it from yours, and vice versa. If you fail doing it properly, the data will get messed up in both accounts.

    • When you borrow the watch to another person, you must reset it to the factory settings, and cusomize it with the personal data and parameters of the other person. You'll have to do it again, when getting it back. Please note that it will delete all data from the watch, all settings, customizations, and also data like VO₂max, Training Effect, etc. Activities and other data in Garmin Connect will be preserved, though.
  • ... She can also register the Run with your account, creating another GC acount for her (without  connecting your watch), and importing the activity from your account. You can then delete her run from your GC. It avoids the problems with connecting/disconnectiong of the device from the accounts, but you'd still need to do the Master Reset, if you want that the watch does not blend your parameters into her run, and her results into you data.
