Reset original Vivomove and now steps won't sync

My original vivomove watch had started to stop intermittently so this morning I removed it from GC (website) and then reset it by pressing the crown for 15 seconds. The reset went smoothly and I set it up as a new device in the GC app (iphone iOS 18). Everything looked good, but then a while late having done a few steps I sync'd it again by pressing the crown. The sync appeared to work fine, but I noticed the steps did not update.

I know this is an old device, but the fact that it is listed as compatible on the GC app suggests it should still sync the steps? Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so found a solution?

  • So I’ve found a work around to the issue. As a test I created a new Garmin Connect account and set up the watch to sync with the new account. Syncing with this new account works fine.

    Fortunately I didn’t have any recent data associated with my original account as I’ve been using an Apple Watch for the past few years.

    Obviously this is not ideal and looks like the vivomove prior to me resetting it is still associated with the account even though I deleted from GC app and under Device > Settings on the GC website.
